A lot was expected from the much hyped Juniors Snooker event final of the Manisha Vascon 2020 National billiards & snooker championship here at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana club where currently the 30 days cue sports extravaganza is being organized by BSAM under the auspices of the BSFI but the showdown between Shri Krishna of PSPB and the Haryana International, Dig Vijay Kadian, but in the end the affair ended as a damp squib.
In a complete one sided, well almost, best of seven frames match, the contested petered out to be a straight frames victory for the confident and aggressive lad, Dig Vijay.
Krishna seemed to be rather subdued, unsure and too overcome with the anxiety to perform upto the expectations of his fans.
DigVijay, s body language was oozing with confidence and positivity. He played to a well orchestered plan, water tight safety, good selection of shot and the will to perform were the hallmark of his victory on this day.
He was already 2-0 frames up before Krishna could even make an impression and when in with a half chance, DigVijay potting meticulously chalked up a neat 50 points break to pocket the third frame as well.
Krishna put up a sembalance of a fight in the fourth frame, but by now the victor was fully focussed. Not letting up on the pressure he won the fourth frame too and the match with a degree of comfort. The scores were in favour of Kadian — 65-44, 55-11, 75-01 and 67-32 points.
In the play off for the third and fourth position, Sparsh Pherwani of Maharashtra had to work very hard to overcome the stiff fight put up by Aman Bansod of Madhya Pradesh before firing in a superb break of 68 in the deciding fifth frame to emerge victorious by 52-66, 58-39, 78-16, 33-52 and 68-16 points. The fifth and sixth spots were won by Krieshh Gurbaxani of Maharashtra and Aadesh Kothari of Tamil Nadu while the seventh position was bagged by Vishwa jeet Mohan of Uttar Pradesh and Summer Mago ended up eighth.
Meanwhile the Men, s billiards championship also got under way today morning.
Dhwaj Haria of PSPB showed why he is such a hot number in the three ball game even as he compiled breaks of 105 in the first and a 95 in the second following it up by winning the third game to keep his slate clean at 150-25, 150-60 and 150-44 points against Mohammad Arshad of Kerala.
Dhruv Sitwala of PSPB was in top form with breaks of 146 unfinished in the first and a 131 unfinished in the third game of the best of five 150 up game match against Ankit Kariwala of West Bengal. Ankit remained a spectator as Dhruv unleashed a 150-00, 150-42 and a 150-19 points win.
Brijesh Damani of PSPB was also right on cue in the process of recording a three straight games victory over Ami Lal of Delhi winning easily by 150-03, 150-43 and 150-55 points. Damani had breaks of 125 in the first, a 78 in the second and a 81 in the third on way to home.
Another PSPB cueist, Arjun awardee and a former World billiards champion, stylish, Sourav Kothari was on song in his fine win over Kan Kan Shamsi of Uttar Pradesh whom he beat by 151-54, 150-22 and 150-21 points piling up breaks of 150 in the second and breaks of 82 and 63 in the third game of the match.

Himanshu Jain of Telengana beat Shahbaz Adil Khan of PSPB by 3-1 games and Aamer Husain of West Bengal beat Chandu Kasodaria of Gujarat by 3-1 games.
