So we draw the curtain on yet another great REVENTON SNOOKER event…
In the end India’s SOURAV KOTHARI pipped out local JOHL YOUNGER by 6 frames to 5 in an epic 6 hour final which went right down to the final pink.
Kothari did come back from the depths of a 2-5 deficit to rattle off the next 4 frames as he found himself at the point of no return.
While Kothari had won his semi final match against JOE MINICI relatively comfortably, giving him ample time to rest and settle, Johl was still battling out his semi final match against STEVE MIFSUD, which went for yet another 6 hours despite the 5-2 scoreline.
The “oneforseven” event was also held while the semi finals were being played, with the remaining 8 players taking part.
Despite century breaks by DANIELL HAENGA and ADRIAN RIDLEY, it was West Australia’s BEN JUDGE who took out the event and the $1000 prize.
Kothari also took out the high break prize for the main event with a 124. This along with his other century break saw him take home the tidy some of $16,700. A nice weekend’s work most might say.
REVENTON SNOOKER wish to thank all involved with the event and would like to also congratulate SOURAV KOTHARI on his win, which complimented his REVENTON CLASSIC victory earlier in the year quite nicely.
Over the moon to become Champion of Australia’s biggest Snooker Tournament – The REVENTON MASTERS here in Melbourne. Pushed to a corner in the Final and struggling with simplest of shots, defeat seemed inevitable with my opponent Johl Younger just one game away from victory while I had a mountain to climb. But then, something changed… I had to hang in there which is sometimes the toughest task, but I could do it and from 2-5 games behind, managed to waft my way back and eventually won 6-5.
It feels great to win matches like these which test one’s character.
